Green meetings leave a good feeling
As official certification body the Austria Center Vienna is here to advise and support customer to plan their events as eco-friendly as they can possibly be, as well as reducing their ecological footprint and hosting their get-togethers as Green Events. The venue offers the ideal head start when it comes to achieving certification, thanks to the company’s green policies, high-performance IT infrastructure that supports paperless congresses, and a pair of catering partners certified in accordance with the Austrian Eco-label for Green Meetings (Umweltzeichen).

Committed to social and environmental responsibilities
The entire company is committed to a holistic CSR approach, as shown by the importance they attach to environmental aspects alongside social and financial factors. “Sustainability begins at the procurement stage – from green IT to furnishings, to the use of non-potable water for the toilets and our give-aways. As a green conference centre we are used to looking beyond our own activities. We give our customers every chance to make their events as sustainable and green as possible. This is why we are always looking for new ways to enhance energy efficiency, cut waste, add value at a local level and ensure that we conserve resources wherever possible. We have already taken a number of steps designed to make organizing green meetings even easier for our customers,” CEO Susanne Baumann-Söllner commented.

With 24 lecture rooms for between 100 and 4,320 participants, 180 meeting rooms and 22,000m² of exhibition space, the Austria Center Vienna has a total capacity for around 20,000 participants. Thanks to its location right next door to the Vienna International Centre – one of the four international United Nations headquarters – it is the only conference centre that is directly linked to a UN site.

Sustainable building management
Ms Baumann-Söllner and her team are not only responsible for the Austria Center Vienna, but also for maintaining the Vienna International Centre, which takes the total amount of building space in their care to around 325,000m². “We attach great importance to sustainable building management – both at the Austria Center Vienna and in the Vienna International Centre (VIC). We are very pleased that the UN Climate Secretariat officially awarded climate neutral status to the VIC, making it the first of the four UN headquarters to earn this title. This makes Vienna – and our company – an international pioneer in the field of sustainable building management,” Baumann-Söllner commented.
